Decorator Sashya Tind of Ideate Design Studio designed the house for the couple in the American tradition. This spacious 650 m² mansion is located in Massachusetts and includes a music room, a classic study, a living room with a fireplace and a separate dining room.

The owners, a harpist and financier, used to live in an old Victorian house, so Tind skillfully combined traditional 19th-century architecture and decoration with laconic design in the spirit of modern American classics in their new home. A spectacular addition to the eclectic interior was the art collection owned by the couple.

On the ground floor of the house there is a two-height living room with large windows, a rustic fireplace embedded in the corner of the room, and a modernist style dining group. There are white walls and wooden floors, against which stand out the uneven stonework that decorates the fireplace and chimney, and bright paintings on the walls. A sculpted mahogany slab table echoes the low pedestal custom-made for this project. The symmetry of the sofas and armchairs is emphasized by paired canvases by the artist Pierre Frethure. The vintage breakfast table, located by the window in the corner of the living room, is surrounded by iconic chairs designed by Norman Cherner.

Next to the living room is a music room with a bay window and cherry-colored walls. In its center is a harp, the main instrument of the mistress of the house. The furnishings are complemented by an antique chair and chest of drawers, as well as a vintage modernist sofa. Tynd gave a dark Victorian look to the front dining room of the house: she decorated the walls with blue wood paneling, covered the ceiling with thickly patterned wallpaper and decorated with wooden beams. The atmosphere here is traditional and a little theatrical: in the center there is a chippendale wooden table and chairs, an antique sideboard with carved details against the wall, a classic rural landscape on the wall.

The study and the library look as if letters were written and the accounts of the grandparents of the owners were written here. Honey-colored wall paneling and beams, navy blue walls, vintage carpet and traditional furniture create a cozy and relaxed feel.

The master bedroom, located on the second floor, is filled with light and air. The palette of the room combines white, light gray and cream tones and a fresh mint shade. The designer used dark wood furniture to bring contrast. Roman shades with delicate patterns, wide cornices, high baseboards and elegant quilted sofas create a classic setting that is well known to every fan of traditional American interiors.
