What are the keys to renovating the kitchen? Sashya Thind, founder of Ideate Design Studio , reveals the keys to a perfect renovation.

This Boston-based studio signs this project in the American city: the complete remodeling of a kitchen-dining room for a family that usually spends weekends at home.

The reform has a main element: a wood stove, which has been preserved and painted black to give it prominence. The kitchen hinges on either side of the wood-burning stove and has everything needed to make this food-loving family happy.

A white marble, elegant and resistant, where to prepare the dishes. A storage system made up of dark wood cabinets and drawers that allows you to keep everything tidy. A corner starring a wooden table, with chairs and a bench. And a turquoise floor that provides the color note.

MATERIALS AND FINISHES

To create a kitchen that lasts, it is best not to get carried away by trends. Selecting materials such as wood and marble and finishes that resist the passage of time may be your best option. In this way, you will also feel that your kitchen is more authentic.

A REAL SPACE

Ideate Design Studio 's kitchen  beckons in many ways: the food, the crackling wood stove, the soft background music... "Add the voice, laughter and conversations between the family and it transforms into a space that is real." says Sashya Thind, founder of Ideate Design Studio. "This kitchen hugs you, exudes warmth, like a warm hug when you come home," she adds.

FAVORITE COLOR

What is the color that best suits a kitchen? Sashya Thind, of Ideate Design Studio, is clear: "Green is my favorite color." And this is reflected in the kitchen that he has designed for this Boston family. Whatever your fetish color is, the important thing is that it means something. Otherwise, the result will be frivolous and impersonal.

TRICKS TO ILLUMINATE THE KITCHEN WELL

"I prefer to use a combination of lights, for different functions. Under-cabinet to illuminate countertops, recessed ceiling lights for general lighting, and sconces in specific areas that focus on specific tasks," says Sashya Thind.

OF FLUID TRANSIT

We do not live as formally as before. And the spaces are adapted to this new lifestyle. A contemporary kitchen requires a space that is easily accessible, allowing pots and dishes to be moved from one place to another without difficulty. Installation and cleaning must also be comfortable. "Like a well-oiled machine," Thind says.

THE STOVE THAT ARTICULATES THE KITCHEN

The definitive element for a kitchen to be so attractive is the surprise factor; in this case, the  Mørso stove . It was this stove that prompted the design of the kitchen, as well as the finishing decisions. "Initially it was surrounded by a large hood, which was modified to a size that allowed the dining room counter and bench to be extended," says Thind. Black accents also emerged from the stove's finish.
