The concept of slow living defines the interior design of this vacation home facing the sea.

When the couple in this story—a lawyer and a marketing executive in their fifties—purchased this fabulous waterfront home in Connecticut, they thought of it as a weekend or vacation home. However, with the arrival of the pandemic, they began to seriously consider making it their main home. In any case, in New York they already had an apartment where they could continue staying when they visited the city.

For the interior design project, they had the designer Sashya Thind, who gave the house a contemporary look through furniture with rounded lines (so fashionable lately) and fine materials.

The house is distributed over two floors and a basement.

''When considering interior design, I always imagine clients at home and how they might experience the space: what they see, feel and touch at any given moment; how natural light enters the rooms...'', says Sashya. ''I wanted to create a place where you can feel calm and connect with your thoughts, a breather from the city,'' he continues. "The clients and I agreed that the color would be inspired by the landscape surrounding the house, bringing them closer to nature," he concludes.

The result of the interior design is an elegant mix of sea foam green, gold and charcoal grey, combined with natural materials such as white oak wood and natural stone, and very warm linen and wool fabrics.

''I like to showcase the woodwork and the handcrafted nature of the elements. I think it shows the human touch of the pieces'', comments the interior designer. One of the clearest examples is the green rug in the living room, whose design by Angela Adams was inspired by the organic forms of nature.

The kitchen has a central island with an office area . Here, the white fronts contrast with the black stone cladding and the wooden pieces.

In the office, the carpentry of the bookcase was designed to be able to change the height of the shelves depending on the needs. Even the desk itself fits elegantly and naturally into these slots.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the upper floor, as they can thus enjoy more natural light. The terrace is also located here.

Frankly, no wonder they want to live here permanently!
